I know I SHOULD be working on UFO's, but a couple months ago when the May/June Quiltmaker magazine came out I found a quilt in there that hit me hard, very hard! So much so that I ordered the fabrics used in the sample quilt. That is not something I do very often, but I loved the Composition backgrounds and the Grunge fabrics. I cut out the quilt immediately, and it was still kitted up and I threw in my retreat bag. I manged to get all the pinwheels made at retreat and now I have a finished top. I LOVE this top. It's so not me! I will bind it with one of the bright Grunge fabrics after quilting. I bought 1/2 yard cuts and cut 4 3" squares out of each one, so they will be showing up in more quilts! I am basiclaly out of the backgrounds though since it was just a FQ pack.

The quilt finishes at 60 X 72 and will go into my never ending collection of tops to be quilted!

I can see why you fell for this quilt! I love the design and fabrics. Great finish! I'm really thinking you didn't sleep at all on your retreat!
It's really fun to buy the kit and make a quilt that just calls you sometimes. And those UFO's will still be there so enjoy the summer and sew something fun.
I can't talk much, I start way more than I finish every year. If there isn't a solid deadline, the UFO'S languish in totes. So sad... Great job on a fun quilt. It will make someone especially happy once it gets done. So cheerful.
Very fun quilt! Some patterns just jump the queue, and when they're fun it seems that they almost make themselves.
Don't you just love the grunge fabrics. They give an rustic feel to quilts but it seems to draw me in. I really like them. Sometimes I like a pattern but can see it in colors or fabrics that are more me. Other times, the reason I like the pattern is because of the fabrics that are used in it. Then, I have to duplicate it as closely as I can. Your quilt turned out so great! I read your profile and noticed that you had lost your son. I'm so sorry. We, too, have lost a son and while the hurt softens it is never completely gone.
