Making a Project List

Wow, oh wow!  I just had a major shock!  I went through my UFO's, aka projects I have started, but not finished.  I never dreamed I had as many as I do!  I am not making a resolution, but rather a goal of finishing 52 projects this year.  This may include something that is not even on the list yet (like a baby quilt for my daughter's friend), so I am leaving myself open to that.  I didn't want to join a challenge where you had to work on a certain project on a certain month, I don't operate like that.  I have times where I am super busy and don't have much time for quilting, and then I have weeks off in the summer where I spend the afternoons quilting when it's hot outside.  I am also a pretty intense quilter, meaning I can focus for periods of time and ignore other things. Some people call that an obsession, some people call it an addiction and I agree with both!

I am going to list all my UFO's as I am in a friendly challenge with some friends.  A lot of these won't make sense, but my goal is to take before and after pictures as I work on each project and blog about it.  Some of them were acquired from other people, but I still count them in my totals.  A lot of them will be donated or gifted when they are finished.  I know I have forgotten some, but I'm scared to dig anymore!

A Friendly contest, huh? Great list. You're ahead of me on the Be My Neighbor. I'll be watching to see how many get crossed off. You get a lot done at Retreats so I have high hopes for your success.

You are so much braver than I am. I picked 12 for a UFO challenge and the rest are just there staring at me. I'm a bit afraid to just write them down. But I like your plan and I'll be thinking about doing the same. Good luck to you my friend! Can't wait to see how you progress on these. I have faith in you. :)

You are very brave to face that list!
I can only face a short UFO list at a time :)

You inspire me! I've been a bit hesitant to face my sewing room, though I've learned a lot this year about why some projects stall. Perhaps I'll grab a notepad and at least start. I already found some finished charity hats when looking for leftover yarn.

Now I don't feel so bad. I started a list about a year ago and stopped - it was sooo long and it didn't seem like I'd ever make headway. You've inspired me to make the list again. I won't be able to do one a week, but maybe ticking them off will motivate me to keep going. I have been trying to 'kit' the projects I do have - get everything I need together and only buy what I need to finish (like sashing), so many of my projects are at least organized.

Only 50/ That's doable. How do we do this to ourselves. I had mine all listed and then some more crawled out from other places, so I'm gradually adding them to the list as they show up.

That's quite a list! Once you get closeted away in your sewing area you will get a lot accomplished I know.

Knowing what's on the list is half the battle. Now that you know, it's easier to figure out a plan of attack. Good luck with your ambitions for 2017.
